drienne Meador Murray is a nationally recognized expert in civil rights compliance, known for leading complex investigations involving Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, hazing, and institutional culture and climate. As a Vice President at D. Stafford & Associates, she oversees high-impact audits, conducts trauma-informed, but fair and impartial investigations, and advises colleges and universities on building equitable, legally sound responses to civil rights claims.
With over two decades of experience as a prior law enforcement officer, including service as Chief of Police at Davidson College and Trinity Washington University, Murray has trained more than 10,000 criminal and civil rights investigators nationwide and currently serves as Director of Training and Compliance Activities for the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals (NACCOP).
Drawing on her background in complex criminal investigative work, Murray is also a trained and highly skilled civil rights investigator. She has worked with hundreds of institutions across the United States to conduct independent investigations into sex discrimination, intimate partner violence, stalking, and systemic bias—ensuring both compliance and integrity throughout the process.
An alumna of the 235th Session of the FBI National Academy, she holds degrees from the University of Richmond and New England College. Murray is widely regarded for translating complex legal standards into actionable practices that improve campus safety, uphold civil rights, and reduce institutional risk.
