Title IX Coordinator Tier 4 Class: Title IX for Human Resources Professionals

Title IX Coordinator Track

These classes are appropriate for Title IX Coordinators. It is suggested that Title IX Coordinators take the classes in the Coordinator Track in order of the Tiers (Tier 0, Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.) unless they have received other Title IX training that covers similar content. In that case, Title IX Coordinators are welcome to take any of the available classes in the order that suits their needs and schedules. Title IX Coordinators are welcome to take any classes in the Title IX Investigation Track as well.

Title IX Investigation Track

These classes are appropriate for Title IX Investigators. It is suggested that Title IX Investigators take the classes in the Investigation Track in the order of the Tiers (Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.) and so on unless they have received other Title IX Investigation training that covers similar content. In that case, Title IX Investigators are welcome to take any of the available classes in the order that suits their needs and schedules. Title IX Investigators are welcome to take any classes in the Title IX Coordinator Track as well.

General Information

The DSA Title IX team has trained over 10,000 Title IX Coordinators, Investigators, Hearing Officers and Advisors across the country and is well-known for delving into the practical application of Title IX. The DSA team, comprised of seasoned practitioners, and all have served as Title IX Coordinators/Deputy Coordinators and Investigators for institutions of higher education. As further changes to the required processes are made by the Office for Civil Rights, those changes are immediately incorporated into all relevant DSA classes.

Tier 4: Title IX Coordinator Class: Title IX for Human Resources Professionals

Class Description

D. Stafford & Associates offers a 4-hour Title IX for Human Resources Professionals class. This class is designed specifically for HR professionals who have ancillary or primary duties for response to employee complaints at their institution for reports of discrimination on the basis of sex, including sex-based harassment (quid pro quo, hostile environment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking) and sex discrimination (sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression.)*

Some of the key topics that will be covered are:

  • Developing and Updating Policies (considerations based on current regulatory landscape).
  • Drafting and Implementing Procedures (Intake, Notice, Investigation, and Informal Resolutions).
  • Constructing the Resolution Processes for Sex Discrimination and Sex-based Harassment.
  • Selecting and Training Personnel.
  • Administrative Responsibilities.

*This class is designed to provide information on oversight of investigations but will not provide in-depth training about conducting investigations. Title IX Coordinators with responsibility for conducting investigations are encouraged to take the additional training class(es) as outlined in the Title IX Investigations Track. This course will not address pregnancy or related conditions response. Attendees should register for Tier 5: Pregnancy or Related Conditions if they would like specific training related to those requirements.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed specifically for Human Resources Professionals who have ancillary or primary responsibility for compliance with Title IX on their campuses. Title IX Coordinators and Deputy Title IX Coordinators as well as practitioners in the area of Human Resources are encouraged to attend. Attendees must be employees of an institution of higher education.

Faculty

This training program will feature expert faculty who serve or who have served as practitioners on college and university campuses throughout the country in the areas of behavioral intervention and threat assessment, student conduct, Title IX, human resources, and legal affairs.

Logistics

This class is a 4-hour class (with time built in for breaks).

In-Person Classes: This class is not available in-person.

Virtual Classes: The live, virtual classes are held:

  • One day from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm Eastern Time each day.
