Title IX Coordinator Tier 0 Class: Introduction for New Coordinators

Title IX Coordinator Track

These classes are appropriate for Title IX Coordinators. It is suggested that Title IX Coordinators take the classes in the Coordinator Track in order of the Tiers (Tier 0, Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.) unless they have received other Title IX training that covers similar content. In that case, Title IX Coordinators are welcome to take any of the available classes in the order that suits their needs and schedules. Title IX Coordinators are welcome to take any classes in the Title IX Investigation Track as well.

Title IX Investigation Track

These classes are appropriate for Title IX Investigators. It is suggested that Title IX Investigators take the classes in the Investigation Track in the order of the Tiers (Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.) and so on unless they have received other Title IX Investigation training that covers similar content. In that case, Title IX Investigators are welcome to take any of the available classes in the order that suits their needs and schedules. Title IX Investigators are welcome to take any classes in the Title IX Coordinator Track as well.

General Information

The DSA Title IX team has trained over 10,000 Title IX Coordinators, Investigators, Hearing Officers and Advisors across the country and is well-known for delving into the practical application of Title IX. The DSA team, comprised of seasoned practitioners, and all have served as Title IX Coordinators/Deputy Coordinators and Investigators for institutions of higher education. As further changes to the required processes are made by the Office for Civil Rights, those changes are immediately incorporated into all relevant DSA classes.

Tier 0: Title IX Coordinator Class: Introduction for NEW Title IX Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators

Class Description

D. Stafford & Associates offers a 4-hour Introduction to Title IX for NEW Title IX and Deputy Title IX Coordinators. This class is designed specifically for professionals who have been assigned as Coordinators or Deputies within the past twelve months or those who need a solid introduction at a slightly slower pace before jumping into the Tier 1: Law and Policy course. This class will focus on the systems and structures coordinators should implement as they begin their work as well as annual duties the position must fulfill. The course will also provide recommendations for best practices around policy and procedure construction, internal communication, and training.

Some of the key topics that will be covered are:

  • So, you’re a Title IX Coordinator! Now what?!
  • Understanding the requirements of the 2024 regulations.
  • Understanding what policies and procedures you have that could be applicable to your work.
  • Unpacking procedures related to employees versus students (and how to use them.)
  • Keys to community education.
  • Selecting and training personnel.
  • Administrative responsibilities (non-Athletics).

*This course will not address pregnancy or related conditions response. Attendees should register for Tier 5: Pregnancy or Related Conditions if they would like specific training related to those requirements.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for persons who are less than 12 months into their positions and are responsible for coordinating the institution’s response to reports of sex discrimination, including sex-based harassment, and overseeing the grievance process, this could include Title IX Coordinators and Deputy Title IX Coordinators, as well as practitioners in the areas of Human Resources, Equity & Diversity, Student Affairs, General Counsel, Athletics, and Campus Law Enforcement/Public Safety are encouraged to attend. Attendees must be an employee of an institution of higher education.

Faculty

This training program will feature expert faculty who serve or who have served as practitioners on college and university campuses throughout the country in the areas of behavioral intervention and threat assessment, student conduct, Title IX, and human resources and legal affairs.

Logistics

This class is a 4-hour class (with time built in for breaks).

In-Person Classes: This class is not available in-person.

Virtual Classes: The live, virtual classes are held:

  • One day from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm Eastern Time each day.
